Texels - the flock
Our 100 ewe flock
was founded in 1980 with a Newark ewe in-lamb to the noted French ram,
Hors d'Oeuvre. She was followed by four gimmers from the dispersal of
a small flock based on Annan and Midhill blood lines.
Subsequent additions
included a Sportsman's gimmer, a former champion at Chelford, and two
Notgrove ewes with old French blood-lines, both in-lamb to Wholestone
Yorkshireman - one of Elite Texel Sires' most successful reference rams.
Carcase quality
has been the dominant factor in the choice of sires, with influential
rams such as Newark Liffy,a son of Midhill Jacobite, Turin Ogle and later
Lindridge Wizard.
We have produced a Supreme Champion Texel at the NSA ram sale and we are
consistently placed at major shows. We pay close attention to maintaining
top-class flock health, being Scrapie Monitored, EAE Accredited and MV
Accredited. MORE
